Thank you for your letter of Date of retailers letter in which you deny responsibility for the defects in the above item that I described in my letter of Date of original letter.
I must remind you that my claim against you is based on the amended Sale of Goods Act 1979. As I pointed out in my previous letter, Section 14 of the Act requires the retailer, not the manufacturer, to supply goods which are of a satisfactory quality and reasonably fit for their purpose. Your failure to supply goods of the required quality means that I have a claim against you for breach of contract. This claim is not affected by any rights I may have under the guarantee offered by the manufacturer.
Please respond to my letter by Date plus 7 days with your proposals to remedy this matter.
